It does not qualify as an OLD TRUCK (but I plan to tow my old truck with it),
but I wanted to ask the experts here about the Toyota 22R engine used in the
1988 models. I have a chance to buy one that has had the timing chain and
gears replaced. My questions are: Is changing the timing chain normal or
reccommended for this engine? Will any valve damage result from being out of
time, or jumping time? What is the overall quality and durability of this
engine?
