The thing that sets him apart is that he is different. He's young, a
different race than a vast majority on the circuit, and he hits the 
ball a long way.
The media has taken this guy and ran with it in a time that golf was 
starting to get a little bland. Of course as quick as they can build 
him up, they can tear him down too. John Daly for example, though he
brought much of it on himself.
