Thank you Sir. I'm just saddened that the people who voted in
the last NRA BOD election didn't see that.

No and I do miss Claire Wolf. She was fun to correspond with.
PN> Hey, a question for you. Or a few. Regarding Nevada gun laws.
PN> A person spending more than 72 hours in NV is required to register his

Clark County and only pistols, not long arms. One of the reasons
why I refuse to live there.
> Clark and Washoe counties ban loaded guns in vehicles?
No. Long arms must have an empty chamber and that's a fish &
game law. Pistols may be loaded in vehicles.
Reno PD doesn't like that and a lot of the cops that they hire
from California either don't know the law or try to make it up as they
go along, but the State and the County don't have a ban on loaded
pistols and I don't think that the current Reno City Council would care
to buck public opinion and put one of those over either.
What
> is the state of open carry? You now have a shall issue CCW law, does

> frown on carry, how far do they go to enforce that?
As far as I know, the state will recognize any permit from any
state that recognizes ours. (Check with Washoe County DA on it.) It's
against the law to carry in banks, casinos, bars and public buildings as
well as jails and airports. Reno has a municipal ordinance against carry
in parks, largely because of gang related problems that have resulted in
the deaths of 3rd parties. It's a damnfool law that applies to everyone
except the people that it was aimed at, but then you're looking at a
city council that gets it's information from a police department that
tried to endrun the City Manager and stuff the likes of Bayan Louis down
our throats. (Lewis was acting LAPD Chief and an agressive gungrabber of
the Pat Murphy-Joe McNamara type.) It's what we get for expanding the
department too fast and hiring largely out of California.
Open carry is legal with some exceptions, but expect to be
harassed since it's not the usual custom here. Again the result of
hiring cops who don't reflect the community that they're expected to
police, out of California.
You'll find that the Washoe County Sheriffs Office guys are very
good, and that Sparks is excellent and even the Highway Patrol is fairly
easy to get along with. (And Nobody even knows that there is a BATF
office here-- the Resident Special Agent in Charge is actually a human
being unlike most of the rest of his organization, which has got to have
some nasty career impacts-- if you run into a nasty ATF guy here, odds
are pretty good that he's out of the San Fransisco office)
In short, if you're a gun owner, you'll find a fairly friendly
environment as long as you don't run into RPD and those guys are
essentially an occupation force hired from out of state, so don't judge
the rest of us by them.
