Hello Everyone:
As many of you are aware, I do not ahve post-polio, but multiple sclerosis,

was a wonderful day, first the signing of the Kennedy-Kassenbaum Bill

CHALK UP ANOTHER ONE FOR AMERICA'S HARD WORKING FAMILIES
President Clinton Signs Kennedy-Kassebaum Health Insurance Reform Bill Into
Law
Today, President Clinton and Democrats in Congress achieved a long-overdue
victory for millions of Americans who have lived in fear of losing their
health insurance when they changed or lost their jobs
*******
After years of stonewalling by the GOP controlled Congress, the
Kassebaum-Kennedy health insurance reform bill became law today with
resident
Clinton's signature.
The enactment of this important law is a testament to the will and the
perseverance of President Clinton and the Democrats in Congress
o No longer will Americans live in fear of losing their coverage just
because they have a pre-existing condition.
o No longer will Americans face the dilemma of hesitating to go to a new and
better job for fear of losing their insurance coverage.
Democrats dug in and delivered this much needed reform for hard working
families.
THE BILL:
*********
HELPS PREVENT FRAUD AND ABUSE: By providing greater penalties, this law
permits better targeting and prosecution of "bad apple" health care providers
who are bilking the system of billions of dollars from Medicare, Medicaid and
private insurance.
IS JUST THE BEGINNING: President Clinton and the Democrats know we need to do
more for America's hard working families. We must work vigilantly to assure
that the quality of health care that Americans are receiving remains the best
in
the world. And, we must work to assure that no American is discriminated
against on the basis of a particular diagnosis
Regards
Laura
