The last true printed manual for TSE came with version 2.0, 
plus some slim supplements for 2.5 & 2.8.  Since then, all info 
about TSE features was in the help files. The information I 
quoted about Dos() was from the 4.00c help of the Windows GUI 
version, the some one you are using.

In other words, the Help file is wrong, and the flags have no 
effect?
That would be an explanation, although a disappointing one.

A viable solution, I hope.  BTW, Win 2k offeres a far more 
powerful scripting engine than Dos batch files, called
the Windows Scripting Host WSH.  Unfortunately,is so almost
undocumented, and so far has been mostly only used by virus 
writers. It even has a Dos version, cscript.exe, in addition to 
wscript.exe for Windows. 

You can do a lot with it that goes beyond Dos batch files, 
including control windows. I only learned about WSH's existence 
from an O'Reilly Annoyance book.
