Mine was in 1960 when they started giving the vaccine and I got it from
the vaccine.  I had Bulbar only.  Was paralysed and in the Iron Lung.
Had all my veins collapsing so they had to put iv's in the palms of my
hands and bottoms of my feet and anywhere else they could find to stick
and me only 5 years old.

Okay, I was doing fine until I fell in 1989 and broke my arm and injured
my back.  Then the Post Polio symptoms started appearing.  First not
being able to swallow and getting choked on food and such.  Then leg
pain that wouldn't go away and gets considerably worse almost every day.
And now muscle pain that causes almost every inch of my body including
the top of my head so sore and tender that I can't stand someone to try
to massage out the pain.  I have to have my wife beat my legs with her
fists as hard as she can every night just to ease the pain enough to go
to sleep for a few hours.  I went back to the hospital where I had been
in with the polio a few years back and had a test for Post Polio and it
showed up inconclusive.  The symtoms I was having were ones that could
be Post Polio or could be caused by my fall in their opinion.  Yet they
wanted me to come back for more tests every few months but I live over 2
hours drive from there and it was impossible for me to do.  I hope
people in here know what I'm talking about when I say that my legs hurt
SO BAD some days that I honestly wish I could take a butcher knife and
cut them off.  The pain couldn't be any worse than it is now.  Thanks
for letting me get some of this off my chest.
