I tried the proper editors, quite a few of them. Even Netscape Gold. Gold's
edit mode does not even support forms. I tried Claris Home Page, which did
support forms, but not frames, and did a poor job of the forms at that.

I find it far more effective to do it by hand -- learn the codes. If I want
to do something new (eg forms) I usually do a bit in the editor and learn
by example from there. HTML is *not* WYSIWYG, and not intended to be; the
browser is entitled some latitude in how it displays things, for one thing.
