I'm an old technology guy, one who writes C and
Fortran and many assembly languages on obsolete
machines running stuff from the last decade.

We've been using 80486 boards with 4 megabytes RAM
for a series of embedded tire testing machines. XMS is used
for DOS=HIGH but EMM386.EXE is not used, because
it can interfere with interrupt latency. I do use EMM386
(with LIM EMS 4.0) for development, then switch when
running the systems. I have a home-brew multi-boot operation
(switch AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS and reboot).
All of them except one used XMS, and that was due to my
extreme paranoia on that one control system.

Swapping to disk worked just fine.

Last year, I worked with a few Intel 80196 C and assembly
projects (aircraft braking control systems) connected to
a network running Windows NT 4.0. I had to reboot to use
the 80196 emulator board (ancient 1980s technology) and I
used Tse 2.5 on that system, which permitted by XMS and
EMM386 with certain pages excluded where the emulator
board had its RAM.

That's too bad. Well you've got one customer. Even making
marginal improvements would be good, such as changes
to SC.EXE to make it more compatible with SC32.EXE
I'll even buy Tse 2.51.

Dos TSE will always live on my emergency boot floppies!

Thanks,
Steve
