following up a message from Rich Willbanks to Gus Gere:

I'd like to echo this... If you're going to be carrying in
public - I for one would sure like to know that you can shoot
straight - and I'm sure others might be comforted as well.
After all which is worth more, ammo or human life ?
I'm sure none of us would want to take out a
non-combatant as a secondary target.
About the ONLY problem I've heard with SOME Pro-Carry individuals
is their outright opposition to ANY type of required training.
I firmly believe that EVERY gun owner that's going to carry,
sould have the chance to be trained in combat scenarios, at
places like "Hogans' Alley". I haven't had the pleasure of
doing so (simply due to financial costs), but I'm sure if
more people were to make use of these sites - the operators
of these places MIGHT be convinced to lower their prices, so
the average citizen would be able to afford them. I'm sure
that there would be an increase in the numbers of customers.
Perhaps if some of the money that's being spent on CONTROLING
and debating access to firearms was directed towards this type
of training for the general public, the quality of gun-owners
might improve ?
It's a shame that some anti-carry proponents will try ANY tricks
(including using the lack of training) as a format for banning.
And I'm sure if given the opportunity to mold the training
program, anti-gun supporters would attempt to use it to
accomplish their original goals of complete disarmament.
Darned if you do - Darned if you don't... :(
