PN> You might look around for "bear spray." Same stuff. Perhaps only
PN> available in your western provinces? Dunno.

Not available in Canada, nohow. For some reason the domestic politicians
don't want us to be able to protect ourselves. We've got to do something,
anything, about it. This isn't the 1950's or 1960's anymore. There are some
serious crazies, beserkers, gangs, drug lords and who knows what else
out there. The police cannot cope with it all, it's impossible.

I have the greatest respect for law enforcement, but when it comes down to
the possibility of my family being harmed or worse, I consider it my DUTY to
do as much as possible to protect them any way I can. An alarm system for our

home is a start, but it does nothing for protection outside the home, walking

the dog, going downtown for a stroll, whatever. The "good-old days" are long
gone. The genii is long out of the bottle, you can't stuff him back in
anymore. Denying honest citizens the right to defend themselves against
criminals, when it's apparent the law cannot do so, is criminal in itself
AFAIC. Hoping the crime problem will just go away is wishful thinking at
best, suicidal really. Especially when the amount of violent crime is still
rising.

PN> GG> You're only anal if you also have a backup generator too ;-)
PN> It's on the "must acquire" list. I'm just not in a hurry, so I'm
PN> looking for something small and used.

Actually it was a rather tongue-in-cheek remark. Around here during the
January Ice Storm, when power was out for weeks in some places, generators
were sold and stolen in the hundreds. You could probably get a good deal
now.

PN> Possibly. Keep in mind that shotgun patterns at typical inside the
PN> house ranges will not have opened much.

As someone else remarked, the noise of a pump shotgun being primed for firing

should be intimidating enough in itself.

PN> A good used Taurus or Ruger with 13-ish capacity in 9mm can be had
PN> locally in the just under $300US range. Not a bad house or car gun.

I think I'd rather have a revolver. KISS factor.
We can continue this in GUNS, FIREARMS etc, if you want to talk more about
the weapons themselves. We're getting a tad off-topic here.
