subject: Virus Info Posting Query

Hi, Kurt...

KW{at}> wow, i took WAY too long getting my offline mail reader back up and
KW{at}> running after switching computers... sorry about that folks, i thought
KW{at}> i could just copy the files over (since there was no installation
KW{at}> involved) but it turned out to not be quite so simple... let me know if
KW{at}> there are any readability issues with this message, by the way - i'm
KW{at}> using a 'windows' version of multi-mail now and it uses notepad for
 KW{at}> writing messages...

I use the same thing...OLX kept running out of memory. I was wondering what
had happened to you, and am glad to see you back.

KW{at}> ok, so did i ever get a deal worked out - well, it wasn't so much that
KW{at}> there was a deal that needed to be made, rather it was a matter of
KW{at}> finding a new source of info... i never did but i've been thinking
KW{at}> about this for a while and i'm starting to be of the opinion that the
KW{at}> concept of posting details about the latest malware in the wild has
 KW{at}> become outdated...

I use the CA Internet Security Suite myself, and I would have to agree that
most of the threats I see there are classified as "low"...but, it still is
surprising of the people who don't "practice safe hex".

KW{at}> thinking maybe i'd take some of my blog posts and repost them here) but
KW{at}> i never did it... now it seems like if i want to continue contributing
KW{at}> useful content here i'm going to have to find something other than
KW{at}> malware descriptions because, although the old malware is still out
KW{at}> there, the newly created stuff just doesn't lend itself to that sort of
 KW{at}> in-depth individual notification... --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.49

That's true...I may check with CA Internet Security Suite, and periodically
post the latest viruses and spyware threat info. The program apparently just
gives a brief listing of the top 5 of each, but I'd have to do some further
investigation. However, it's a combination anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam,
firewall, parental controls, and desktop migrator, all in one nice package. It
has detected viruses and spyware on my system that AdAware and AVG missed!!

Since you are the moderator here, I'd like your feedback on what I could
possibly do with helping traffic in the echo, as it were. No rush on the reply;
just at your convenience...and thanks for all your work.

Daryl
