subject: Traffic!

Greetings, Beth!!
While you were muttering to Tom Mckeever, , you spake
thusly:
BW> Hi!
BW> Just thought I would get on here and see if I can generate a little
BW> bit of traffic. Don't think though *sigh* that you'll need to get
BW> out a stop sign. Now if there was some way that I could post my
BW> picture here then maybe as I'm a real looker ;-). I can't help but
BW> notice the looks that men send my way. Opps! wrong conference ;-).
Nope - Too many folks over on the Internet, now - FIDONET has shrunk!
TM> Ahhhhh.. Nooo... and Never did..
TM> I am an Aerospace Engineer, retired on disability.. :-)
BW> I hope that you were prepared for retirement with plenty of hobbies
That's why i moderate 2 Echoes - This one and CARDIAC + run an
INTERNET BBS, that this will be married to as soon as i get a decent
Mailer for it..
BW> I'm out in the cold and tramping through the snow. I wouldn't mind
That is usually difficult for PPS; at least the COLD part abd Standing
in it, as well!
TM> * WCE 2.1G1/2037 * Yield to temptation, it may not pass your way
 TM> again.
BW> Hehehe...this is at least the second time today that I've run across
BW> this tagline. HMMMMM....maybe some one is trying to tell me
BW> something.....gotta go and check out that chocolate chip cookie that
BW> is calling me....just hang in here for a moment.
Been there - done that - Only Peanut Butter is my Siren Call!!
BW> Oh drats! someone beat me to it...so will just have to chomp on a
BW> carrot stick.
Yuk..
BW> Hope you don't mind a little bit of my humor. If I'm being out of
Humor welcomed, in fact encouraged - It's part of the Echo Rules -
Humor is encouraged!!
BW> that I'm going to let it claim my Spirit and my Mind. I'll fight it
BW> until I take my last breath. Yes,I'm strong-willed but perhaps that
BW> is why I've survived.
There's a lot of that goin' around the PPS world!! Right on! :-)))
BW> For awhile the area where I lived had a Polio Support group but it
BW> disbanded. It was only meeting four times a year. I went to a couple
BW> of meetings but it was so depressing...I've never in my life met
BW> such negative people. I know that pain can make it difficult to be
BW> positive but still I'm going to try to stay as positive as possible.
I, too, no longer attend our local group, although I maintain
membership for the newsletter and offer the fellow PPS folks free
Internet access... NOT to say, we don't ALL get "down" sometimes over
this re-fighting of the Dragon we thought we slew 30-40 years ago..
:-( But, that's what these conferences/echoes are for - SUPPORT!
BW> Anyway I was told at one group meeting that I should quit ice skating,
BW> quit hiking, quit biking, etc. All the things that I enjoy right now
BW> doing. The woman told me that if I didn't quit that I would end up
BW> in a wheelchair like she is unable to even take a load of laundry
BW> out of the dryer. I don't know how much truth there is in her advice
There IS some truth to the PPS "motto" : "Use it and Lose it", they
tell me.. That's why i go real easy on walking, as i detect the
increasing weaknesses.. Apparently the intense physio-therapy we may
have "successfully" underwent after the Polio bout IS contraindicated
in PPS and potetial PPS folks...
BW> A friend of mine who is also a polio survivor made a 3,000 bike
BW> trip last summer and for me he is an inspiration. I never push
BW> myself however to the point of being in pain. I try to listen to
BW> what my body is telling me and pace myself accordingly. I have to
BW> admit that after riding my bike today I did find myself having to
BW> come home and take a nap.
You MAY want to talk to a PPS-aware Physiarist (Sp?) or Neurologist
on the wisdom of exercise in a PPS state.. General concensus seems to
be "keep it light"..
BW> Well,I've rambled on long enough and it is *sigh* once again past my
BW> bedtime. I got a message from you the other day but it will be
BW> awhile before I'll get around to answering it. I'm only 60 to 80
BW> packets behind or just about a month behind. :-(
Tell us more about yourself, where/when did you contract Polio?,
When/how was PPS discovered? - and all your secret thoughts!!
BW> @-->--> Engineers do it by calculation and design.
I'll buy that! (Stolen)
Take care!!
