subject: Hello!

Greetings, Beth!!
While you were muttering to Tom Mckeever, , you spake
thusly:
BW> Hello!
BW> Don't know how long my access board has been carrying this echo as
BW> it had been a couple of years since I tagged echos on the board. Anyway
BW> I found this echo and for the most part it seems to be DEAD. *SIGH*
UNFORTUNATELY, Beth - Most of the original members migrated to the
Internet, and we've been struggling for some time.. :-(
BW> Anyway it nice to know who the ol' Mod'r't'r is. I think I may have
BW> sent you a message on the InterNet a long time ago when I was
BW> searching for some information on Post_Polio but I'm not sure what
BW> the last name was. Anyway it was a Tom. And since I was visiting a
BW> friend I didn't get the address posted into my address book.
There is a PPS Listserv and an alt.support.postpolio usenet group..
 TM> OUR WC5 BBS: HTTP://spacecon.ids.net or TELNET/FTP spacecon.ids.net!
BW> I see I'll have to give in to my addiction and surf the net some
BW> more. Can't think of a better way to spend the weekend can you!
See above.. (But don't desert us!! - We need ya' here!! )
BW> Anyway to get back on subject before I'm chastised for being off
BW> topic here. I'm a survivor of Polio. I'm not sure when I first came
off-topic accepted (unless WAAAYYYY off-topic!! )
BW> down with Polio as my dad said I was an infant (he was however for
BW> most of my life never around) and my grandfather said that I was old
BW> enough that I had to learn to walk all over again. My guess is that
BW> since '53' and '54' I was living in a Children's Home that I most
BW> likely got Polio then as I do have some vague memories of physical
BW> therapy during that time and of wearing the hated brace.
Ditto - around '48 (In Boston area)
BW> I was really having problems with pain and weakness a couple of
BW> years ago but I did two things that really helped me. The first one
BW> I don't recommend doing however . The first thing that helped
BW> a lot was kicking my husband of many years out of my life and
BW> divorcing him and although money is tight and there is the stress of
BW> being a single parent there is not the constant stress and deprivation
BW> of sleep (as my ex thought I was being lazy and couldn't realize that I
BW> really did need a lot of sleep) While still married I had to take
BW> large doses of pain reliever and soak in a warm tub of water
BW> every night just to try to get relief from incredible pain. I still
BW> do have an ocassional night of pain but nothing like before.
I understand.. Last night was abear for me.. For some reason it
centered at my Bad-Leg's Knee-Cap! - Go figger..
BW> Anyway as quiet as it has been in here I'm probably just talking to
BW> myself. Guess as long as I don't start arguing with myself I'll be
BW> all right ;-) though.
Lot of THAT goin' around, too!! .. And, i monitor daily, so
although quiet, definitely not dead.. :-)
Take care!!
Tom..
