Hi Rick
To all outward appearance I appear to be healthy and most people do
not even realize that I'm a survivor of polio. Sometimes there is a
slight limp....especially if I'm really tired. Although I was in an
iron lung I do not seem to have a lot of upper respiratory problems
and so far I have not had to be on oxygen. In my 20's I was tired
all the time and slept often for twelve or more hours but now that
I'm in my 40's and have gotten rid of some of the stress in my life
I find I have more energy. The last couple of years I've had less
pain but I have the feeling that some day all of this is going to
come crashing down on me.
In the meantime I try to pace myself but often I get frustrated when
I don't seem to have the energy to do the things I would like to do.
In the meantime circumstances are such that I'm a single parent who
has to work part-time in order to get by so I just keep on.
Thanks for your informative post.
Beth :-)
