Have you tried getting in touch with the genealogy group or archives in VA?
The locals might be able to give you some in-depth help.

I would also suggest searching the GRDs for others researching your names. 
These can be found at most public libraries and genealogy groups. You can 
also put your own entries in for a reasonable fee, then others can contact 
you. Always include return postage (SAE/IRC).
