  Well, Dead or Alive is on the Saturn now (if not, soon), so you might want 
to give it a go.
  Personally, I don't remember when fighting games used the "back" command to 
defend; I've always had to use a block button.  But then, I only really took 
an interest in them around the VF2/Tekken era.
