I'm competing for computer time with game playing teenagers---just got to my
computer minutes before work.  Thank you all for responses on line
terminators and UI types.  Sammy, particular thanks for your empathy re UI
type struggles---it sounds like you've been experiencing my dilema for some
time.  Also thanks for your response re EOL types and willingness to add a
new global variable if needed.  I'll chew on the thoughts all have given me
and try to respond more fully later.
