* In a message originally to John Dailey, Scott Adams said: SA> I have no experience with Mac coding other than maybe an hours work SA> on some old ancient mac compiler back in college. But I do recall SA> there was a character set conversion or something. SA> Is it a different set or do they just not allow high ascii? I didn't either, until I reccently tried out REALbasic. I'm in love :) The ASCII is all about encoding, and it's a real bitch to get it to work right, so what I've done instead of trying to deal with that is just working with the absolute byte values. With that decided, it's a simple matter of using a bitmapped VGA font to display the range of old PC ASCII characters. Of course, not the most elegant solution, but it's the only one guaranteed to show exactly what I want to see. ---* Origin: http ftp telnet://badnews.bbs.us & badnewsbbs.darktech.org (3:633/690) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/690 285 260 261/38 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
