I like being able to edit the file because I change some things.
Particularly, I change the startup, main and file menus, add grep strings
for the view functions mechanism and edit GetFunctionStr and OnChangingFiles
to allow for other languages and extensions tse doesn't otherwise expect.
BTW, I would like it if compile.dat were a text file, or, at least, we could
associate a compiler definition with multiple file extensions. It's all
fine once you have it set up, but setting up and managing tools that use the
compiler hook is a real pain. Same for syntax highlighting - particularly
adding keywords.
If load time is an issue, would it be reasonable to use something like the
sc pattern and "compile" the dat files?
