Yes, while it's easy to see how bad perl can be, it takes no more
discipline to write readable perl code than it does to write readable C++
code.  We have 112 perl files (.pl and .pm) with about 820000 bytes, and
it's not really that difficult to maintain.

While I generally still prefer C++, perl is definitely one of my other
preferred languages.  My only real issue is that my C++ skills are waning
due to lack of use.
