The standard guarantees that arrays are contiguous.  As originally written,
it did NOT guarantee that the storage for std::vector was contiguous, but a
Technical Corrigendum (TC) has been written and approved that guarantees
this as well -- it hasn't received the final stamp of approval from the ISO
yet, but as I understand things, it's purely a matter of time and
formalities before it's official.
