PT> Is there a way to search for a string in the entire qwk mail?

Yes.

ALT-g is your friend. Invoke it when looking at the listing of echo
areas after opening the QWK packet. The top line after hitting Alt-g is
to search based on the contents of a file. Second line lets you enter a
phrase to search for. You can also use ALT-t to do the same sort of
search in echo areas tagged by hitting the insert key.
