subject: A Basic Creed Physicians Should Support?19:26:0008/10/97

At a time in the U.S. where patients worry that their doctor's judgement and
advice is guided by the corporate bottom line...Should doctors support
principles which include the belief that:

1. Health care should be accessible to everyone?

2. The doctor-patient relationship needs to be preserved?

3. Choice of physician is the corner-stone of patient autonomy?

4. Quality of practice is not a business decision?

5. Physician's should have autonomy?

Hope to find some replies from individuals whose care has or has not been
quided by the above; the viewpoints of those who 'manage the bottom line' in
HMO's / administrators and others in health-related professions.
