RN> AP> I agree... 9mm just doesn't knock the bad guy down enough. I RN> AP> prefer a .45. Although I am quite fond of my antique Colt 1911 RN> AP> which was the thing back in um... 1911. RN>It is sometimes not necessary to pull the trigger. Pulling the slide back o RN>Colt .45 is scary enough and if that doesn't work, a shot in the air will RN>usually suffice. It is important to know what you're up against in that RN>situation, so if the first two suggestions aren't going to work and you know RN>it, your course of action would be to fire at the brioadest part of the body RN>front of you. On that note, there are some wannabe ballistic experts who wo RN>tell you that wouldn't knock the bad guy backwards. Bad advice. Racking a slide has been considered an aggressive gesture by a court -- so much so that the other guy can claim self defense. As for firing a warning shot, a gun is not a bullhorn, a newspaper, a TV or any other means of communication. When you fire a shot, you are using deadly force. When you fire a warning shot, you are admitting you had no justification for using deadly force. And where is that shot fired in the air going to come down? --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/300 34/999 53/558 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 132/500 134/10 SEEN-BY: 140/1 222/2 226/0 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 393/68 633/260 262 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 SEEN-BY: 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
