JS> VH> Absolutely! Shooting into the air is reckless in the extreme.

JS> Agreed. When I go hunting I can go the entire hunting trip without
JS>firing a single shot. It all depends on if I have a shot and more importantl
JS>what/who is near the area in which I would be aiming. I don't remember the
JS>last time a I had to shoot twice.

JS> To be honest though I do remember taking a shot once with a 44 mag to
JS>try to scare a bear off rather than trying to kill it. But in doing so I
JS>knew where the round would end up after the shot.

I've come back from many a hunting trip with the same number of
cartridges I left with. One reason why I like the Winchester Model 70
-- you can put the safety in the intermediate position and unload
without going hot.

JS> VH> Shooting, as I said, is using deadly force. Firing a
"warning shot"
JS> VH> is admitting you had no justification for using deadly force.

JS> Firing a weapon should only be done if you are intending to kill
JS>someone or something. And if one decides to take that action they should
JS>be able to justify and be responsible for that action.

When you intend to kill someTHING, or are practicing or competing.

You never intend to kill someONE -- if forced to shoot someone, your
intention is to stop his attack, not kill him. And that is what you say
in court, later on.
