A warning shot doesn't have to be fired into the air.  It may be fired into
the ground, but the travel of a .45 isn't very far.  Now on a crowded
street or neighborhood, that would make a difference.  The main thing is to
be sure if a warning shot is fired, one does not forget that police slogan.
