ML> VH> Me, I've carried an M1911 all my life, except for my first tour in Viet ML> VH> Nam, when I carried a Colt M357 with hollowbased handloads -- loaded ML> VH> backward. ML>i've thought about this ever since i first read it back when it was first ML>posted and i still have to wonder and (finally) ask, why? what is the ML>purpose of loading the cartridge backwards? ML>also for clarification, is it the actual projectile that's loaded into the ML>cartridge backwards or something else?? ML>in edumacation mode ;) The bullet in question is a wadcutter -- basically a pure, flatnosed cylinder, meant for target shooting. In this case, it was a swaged bullet with a hollow base, like a minie ball. Loaded backwards, it was a huge hollowpoint. There were not, in those days, any reliable hollowpoints for handguns, and this bullet performed well in that role. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/300 34/999 53/558 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 132/500 134/10 SEEN-BY: 140/1 222/2 226/0 249/303 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 393/68 633/260 262 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 SEEN-BY: 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
