/Huh!/ Bad .17?!! What'cha gon', what'cha gon, what'cha gonna do, when VERN HUMPHREY and ROY J. TELLASON come for you? RJT>> VH> I COULD rebarrel my Ruger 77/22 to .17 HRM, but I'm not going to! RJT>> Don't know why you'd want to. RJT>> Seeing that thing in the store surprised the heck out of me! VH> Many people apparently ARE rebarreling 77/22s in .22 WRM to .17 HRM, VH> for reasons known only to themselves. :-) It's cheaper to re-barrel than buy a new rifle, that much is obvious. I'm guessing that the .17 HMR does better in some way (I'll have to re-read the article), and that the reason kinda parallels the switch from .308 to .223: More ammunition per pound. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine. Todd Sullivan NRA Member # 132667460 ... Gene Police: You! Vern! Out of the pool! --- Spot 1.3b Unregistered* Origin: The cops are impotent.
