Today, the National Stonewall Democrats (NSD) sharply criticized Vice 
President Dick Cheney for endorsing the reelection efforts of U.S. 
Representative Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO) while simultaneously raising her 
campaign more than $200,000. Speaking earlier today at a campaign luncheon 
in Denver, Cheney told supporters that Congresswoman Musgrave had proven "to 
be exactly the right person for the job." Musgrave is the chief architect of 
an amendment to the United States Constitution that would dictate permanent 
marriage discrimination against same-sex couples.  Marilyn Musgrave was 
first elected to Congress in 2000 representing Colorado's fourth 
congressional district. Since taking office, Musgrave authored the federal 
anti-marriage amendment and has become its chief advocate, appearing 
frequently on television criticizing gay and lesbian families, as do the 
frequent fundraising letters of her reelection efforts. Vice President 
Cheney's daughter, Mary Cheney is a lesbian, and the Vice President has 
indicated his opposition to Musgrave's legislation.
