This is what I've heard too, so I'll stay clear of the one that comes with it
and wait for a new one that is much better built.

That's what I thought. It's a great piece of kit.

I thought about that, but 1) desoldering all those chips is going to be a
paaaaaain (I'm already at my skill limit with the caps), and 2) I wanted to try
and keep it as stock as possible. I'm sure you can relate :)

Oh dope! Didn't know you could do this. I definitely want to try and keep it as
stock as possible but once I get "bored" I might try this out. Of course,
another $80 I shouldn't be spending ;-)
