No, I didn't have Bulbar Polio......I had Encephalitis.....it's just
that doctors in later years said the resulting paralysis I have seemed
more like the results of Bulbar Polio than Encephalitis.  They said that
Encephalitis generally doesn't result in upper respiratory or facial
paralyisis.  I had two spinal taps at the time, and the doctors ruled
out polio.
However, back then in 1950, insurance companies offered a specialized
policy to cover polio and certain other "dreaded" diseases.  The
insurance company fought the claim, saying that I had an indefinite
diagnosis.
Who knows what I had?  Or what caused it?  All I know is that I have the
results of whatever.  I was just curious if there was any connection to
the two diseases and if there was such a thing as post-encephalitis
syndrome.
