If you ask me, the REAL groundbreaker was QUAKE! Easy a decade ahead of its 
time in graphics and action....not to mention animation quality.

Doom was essentially Wolfenstein with SLIGHTLY better graphics and the same 
action....

Quake broke new ground!!
