CT>just wondering, I have not seen anything here ina few days,,,
Yes, it's been pretty quiet here lately. I do have a few users who
have started posting fairly regularly again in some of the other echoes.
What type system do you have? I have a 10' Channel Master dish with a
Chaparral C band only polarotor feed - adding KU shortly. A 25 degree
California Amplifier LNB is used and feeds a Uniden UST9900 receiver.
Lots of folks don't like the Uniden, but this one works FB for me. I
have, however, seen less than perfect ones cross my service bench.
I got the system for $250 at a garage sale. A REAL garage sale, they
were tearing down the house and garage, so anything you wanted, door
frames, flooring, etc., was for sale. Cheap. The only things missing
were the remote and the manual. Since the antenna was mounted on a
short pipe, my wife and I were able to disassemble it without using a
ladder. As soon as we had it taken apart, several people wanted to but
it for $500 - guess they didn't realize how easy it was to take apart.
Due to my poor location, I have the dish mounted on a 15' pole, made
from sections of aluminum conduit purchased from the scrap yard at a buck
a pound. Stainless steel bolts hold it all together. They were cheaper
than having it all welded together. The base plate is anchored to bolts
set in the concrete driveway. Diagonal braces keep the pole straight in
the wind, and a vibration damper cable from the rear of the mount to an
anchor point 20' away keeps the wind from vibrating the dish in high
winds.
