HW> Have just gotten my sysop to add this echo and am interested in
HW> exchanging meaningful dialog with all Post-Polio sufferers who are
HW> receiving this
Welcome aboard! Glad to see someone else from this neck of the woods. I'm
in Ardmore, OK, about 2 hours north of you.
HW> I participate in a support group in the
HW> Dallas-Ft.Worth Metroplex area of Texas.
Can't think of the name right now and I'm too lazy to look it up, but I get a
newsletter from a support group in Garland. Bet it's the same group. One of
these days, I'm going to drive down there for a meeting.
HW> Fellow patients are extremely
HW> pleasant and supportive as well as informative but the medical
HW> profession is virtually useless in my experience--going all the way
HW> from uninformed and uninterested to viewing our experiences as all in
HW> the mind. I have also found a few charlatans who proport to be
HW> experts--in my experience their field of expertise is talk and billing
HW> the insurance till its maxed out.
Most of us have learned that you have to pick and choose carefully, who you
listen to. Hopefully, you'll find a lot of good information here in
POST_POLIO. Tom McKeever, the moderator and originator of POST_POLIO has a
lot of excellent files about PPS.
HW> Would like to find out what else
HW> is happening in the rest of the USA
There's a new network called HandiNet that is focused on disabilities. If
you can interest your sysop, he can get the information and application
packet from me at 1:19/131.
