Really been pretty today -- first thing this morning we went up to
Charlotte County with some friends of ours to look at a horse (Standard Bred
like Cinnimon) and 2-wheel cart ..... NICE setup ...... the 2-wheel medal
art
had lights, leather rolloed and pleated seats (it was a 2-seater -- show
quality type cart) the cart needed a little work but basically wasn't in
too bad a shape.
The cart is black -- pin-strpied ...... needed some really good cleaning
...... big wheels like on our carriage (rubber). One of the shafts was
broken
off -- but right at the end up front -- I think that could be fixed ..
The harness was in pretty good shape but REALLY needed some oil ..... it
didn't have any padding on the chest piece and the saddle part was like what
have for SEDONA which I put a "saddle pad" thing under for her. Leather
didn't
look too bad for being left out in the weather.
The horse -- well, he's a STANDARDBRED - Black as coal and gentle as
everything ..... he did a little spooky jump from time to time but I think
working him he'd turn out to be a pretty good horse for that cart ..... he's
suppose to be 11 yrs old - negative coggins ..... was VERY patient while I
harnessed him up ..... stood very still.
Barbara (our friend here in LaBelle) offered them $1500 for the entire
ig
.. the people took it (they had been asking $2500). I, myself, think that
he
cart alone was worth the $2500 but I didn't say anything as there were a few
repairs that needed to be done. The people who had this cart and horse owned
it for about 6 months -- they had NO idea how to hitch everything up. *I* was
the one to did the harnessing up and they stood there and said "Oh, so THAT's
how that goes" ..... You could tell that they never drove the horse as they
didn't have the first idea of how to do anything with it. Why they
urchased
him in the first place not knowing anything about carts is beyond me
I truely think that Barbara & Chuck have made a good purchase -- in fact,
I'm kinda' sorry I didn't see it first . Barbara & Chuck are
novice
drivers ..... they're about our age -- ask if they could call on us to help
them along -- we said OK COURSE . Mabye she'll be ready for that
charity horse show up in Bartow, FL in September -- and, if she's NOT ready,
maybe *I* can borrow the cart
So, that was our morning ...... spent it -- wherelse -- but with horses
and
horsey stuff .
