FWIW, windows does this too, it names them "local area connection
1", 2, 3, etc and if you don't uninstall it before you pull the card
you have to edit the registry to get rid of the darn things. Oh and they
are invisible if the card is not in the machine so you can only tell they
are there by the number of the current one.
