   Windows has the same problem, but generally people don't see it because
98% run DHCP.   If you host multiple IP addresses on a single NIC, those IP
addresses are bound to the NIC.  If the NIC fails, you're hosed - you have
to type in those IP addresses again by hand unless you poke around the
registry.
