We decided to give horse and Carriage and pony/cart rides after the
parade.
Dr Parrish (local eye doctor in LaBelle) offered his parking lot for us to
have a shady place to give our rides. We had the big carriage (Buddy was
driving SEDONA), I had the surrey (with X pulling it) and Jessica was driving
Tuffy (pony and cart).
We took passengers down to the river -- through the shade lined trees in
LaBelle ...... nice rides!
Dr Parrish was also having a HUGE BBQ in their backyard for his family/
friends and patients ..... we were invited to eat and join in with the fun
..... SO, between his "picnic" the DJ that was there and our carriage rides,
EVERYONE was having a wonderful time!!
Jessica (our daughter) came up from Miami to help. She brought her
friend,
Fred to help too. Jessica was driving the pony/cart in the parade and also
giving the pony/cart rides. She and the kids were having a terrific time
.....
until ......
Yep, we had a slight mishap ...... a lady had parked her car in the
driveway we were using to come in and out of the parking lot -- they had
parked
there after we all had taken a group out for rides .... when we returned, the
pony cart was the first to arrive at the driveway -- Tuffy (our pony) sort of
stepped sideways (not really spooked but was sort of "surprised") and the
ony
cart banged into the parking light of the parked car. Of course the lens
broke
...... scared Jessica half to death .... poor Tuffy stopped and just stood
there.
We announced from the DJ booth about who owned that car parked in the
driveway ..... the lady came up to us and we explained what had happened ....
I
told her to send me the bill to have it repaired and I would gladly pay for
the
repair. She kept saying not to worry about it -- that it was an "old" car.
She
kept saying over and over that she appreciated us telling her about it ....
heck, I wouldn't have done it any other way. We did the damage -- we are
responsible to pay for it!
I gave her my business card anyway ....... told her to send me the bill
..... whether she will or not I don't know.
Sooooooo, that was the slight mishap .... all went well after that. The
kids really loved the pony cart rides and the big carriage was a hit with the
adults too! I had a few rides in the surrey but most people wanted to ride
in
the big carriage ...... next time I think we'll just do the big carriage and
the pony/cart.
