Nah you're just whinging coz in Linux you can screw around with such
things, you just don't know how to.
How many times on Windows have you manually delved deep down into the
registry etc to tweak & set up etc your vid driver? If it's not
possible via the windows gui or "driver gui" then it's not
possible & you live with that.

Rubbish. I had exactly that problem with my laptop running XP. In one way
you are correct in that after an hour or so I found out that with my ATI
driver it was not possible, no way no how so research finished.

Gee et voila le diff. On Windows there was the ATI driver from ATI &
that was that. No possibility of downloading someone else's driver. Want to
do it on Windows XP? Does the ATI driver allow you to do it? If not sod
off.

Good for you. If you want to pretend it's windows then use it as you would
windows. Can you do what you want via the GUi & will you accept simply
those config files generated by the relevant prog? If not then you're not
treating it as windows which while fine means that whinging that it's not
like windows looks a bit silly.
