subject: TV Agent may add wildfeeds

TS> When might you add the wild feeds?
I'm experimentally adding my favorites to my own listings now, and
collecting suggested favorites from other subscribers. There's a
preliminary simple program for collecting wildfeed data called
GETWILD.EXE at ftp.planetc.com/tvlistings . It creates a text file to
be emaiied to me and I invite everybody to use it. But you don't HAVE
to use GETWILD.EXE once you've figured out the format it creates,
because it's just a text file:
[ Begin MYWILD.TXT ]
Sunday 0730 45 WILD T5/10 X-Files |
Wednesday 2000 30 WILD T5/15 Seinfeld |
Tuesday 1800 60 WILD T4/5 Chicago Hope |
[ End MYWILD.TXT ]
          ....
Columns 11 thru 14 are Eastern time hour and minute in 24 hr format, HHMM.
               ...
Columns 16 thru 18 are length in minutes, 0 to 999
                   ...........
Columns 20 thru 30 will show in the CHANNEL column on the LISTINGS screen
                               ............................................
Columns 32 thru 76 will show in the TITLE column on the LISTINGS screen
The "|" in column 77 just shows how long the TITLE can be, but a "P"
in that column makes it a "private" listing. That's useful for local
TV or radio programs or events that should show up in the subscriber's
listings only, not to be shared with other subscribers.
It's also possible to enter dates for one time events (like putting
01/13/98 in columns 1 thru 8), so that event will be added to only that
day's listings instead of being added in every week.
I won't go into all the details yet, but there is also room beyond
column 77 for a couple of hundred more bytes of additional
information. We'll probably collect reliability info like "+12/23/97
-12/30/97" to show a Tuesday feed that appeared 12/23 but didn't
appear 12/30. The list can be updated as often as I get email. I plan
to add episode details when we spot a regularly scheduled listing
later in the week's database that is predictably the same episode. All
this additional info (which can be collected by GETWILD.EXE) will show
up on the DETAILS screen.
I expect some people who get their listings by email (since those
listings can be customized) will start specifying wildfeeds to be
added within a month. Adding 20 more channels for wildfeeds to the 133
already used in the regular listings may cause problems for users who
have already deleted 1500 titles, so I may need to create a
work-around utility before adding all the wildfeeds to everybody's
listings.
TS> How do I get TVAGENT by e-mail
First look for TVBYMAIL.DOC in your TV Agent directory; I sent it to
everybody in the listings several times. If you don't have it there
(?!?) then get the file TVBYMAIL.ZIP from ftp.planetc.com/tvlistings .
TS> and will there ever be Windows version?
Any volunteers?
