Here's a couple of questions for you: do you plan to include any advanced
sound techniques in Prey? Will MMX be used for any sound features?
Personally, I think a lot of audio "clues" as to someone's position should
be used. For example, you shouldn't really be able to hear someone walking
on grass or another soft surface. But if someone's running on metal grates,
you should definitely be able to hear it. It'd also be nice if projectiles
made different sounds according to just what they're hitting, such as wood
vs. concrete. Finally, I think you could successfully have "dynamic music,"
as Unreal does, where it changes depending on what's happening and where you
are.
PS What kind of music do you usually listen to? Ever listen to something
and think "that's astounding - I should use it in a game" (or alternately,
"if that gets used in a game, I'll die")?
