Yeah but
(A) You get sh*t all with windows. No Office apps, drawing tools, databases
etc.etc.etc. An OS + a GI + the very least that MS can get away with (e.g.
note/word pad)or require for competitive reasons (e.g. IE, OE, WMP)
(B) To what degree is the MS release schedule driven purely by the profit
motive rather than when s/w is ready etc. i.e. gotta get everyone onto Win2K &
only then....release XP & then get everyone onto XP & then...
etc.

Running other OS'es for fun & interest? I tend to test upgrades by first trying
the live cd & then if it all looks OK, whipping an image of my current linux
into a VM & then upgrading it.
