That's not entirely true.  Yes, the codebase for Blake Stone was 
Wolfenstein's,
but to say it takes "a few months" is erroneous.  A lot more goes into a game
than just overlaying stuff on it.
It's actually HARDER to rework or work with someone else's code than to 
reate
your own in a lot of situations.
