Hi Wayne, what be happenin?
Wednesday, February 19, 1997 Wayne Young was overheard whispering to
WY> I have a question which I hope you don't mind answering? My
WY> shoulder joints had been sore in the mornings for sometime. I
WY> believe it is calcification? If I swing my arms a bit, the sore is
WY> not as bad as first getting up, but I still can't do push-ups
WY> beyond a couple of times (I can do a dozen times or more when I was
WY> younger, I'm 60 now). All other joints are OK (no sores, that is).
WY> Do you have some suggestions for me? Thanks!
I would suggest you continue to lightly exercise the shoulder joints
in the morning when you arise, and possibly use heat to loosen up
the joints. Gently swing your arm is a clockwise
manner for about a minute, starting with little circles and
gradually increasing the circles. Then do it in a counter-clockwise
manner. I would also do a pendulum swing with the arms, 12 to 6
o'clock and then 3 to 9 o'clock. Your history is consistent with
arthritis symptoms--stiffness in AM that gradually diminishes with
activity. Too much activity or stress can also cause problems. An
examination by a doctor would identify if that is really your problem.
Have a nice day, Wayne!
