Ml> I'm sure you guys are familiar with the musical group Marilyn
Ml> Manson...especially if your a teen, or got teenage kids.
Ml> he mad at mom, or WHAT!!??? Well....I'm sticking with my guns...and we've talked
Ml> as to why I won't allow him to go. I don't want some of that....what I
Ml> call garbage...feeding his head.......don't want my $ feeding MM's
Ml> wallet.
Ml> I've allowed my son to have one of their CD's.....I thought thaT was
Ml> his "right"...to have the music he enjoyed. But he plays it ALL the
Ml> time, and he thinks "they rule". months..> He can't, or won't seem to move on to other music, or groups.
Ml> My question..........was I "too strict" in saying "NO"? Any input
Ml> appreciated.....
Well.....if you don't let him go, he might fully rebel against you. If you
let him go one time, and put a condition attached, like get a job and pay
for your own concerts (entertainment). In fact, I had so little money when
I was a teen, had no allowance whatsoever, but I did have entertainment, and
back in the 60's, it was *free*. Or, make a *loan* for the concert ticket
he has to pay back in chores, etc. (Teens are experts in the word
"defiance"). Better still, have him make friends with his wealthy peer
group, maybe spring a ticket for him later on.... But the word "NO" backwards
means, "ON". Crazy way to think about it, but who said I was so "normal"?????
