FWIW other people running Fedora seem to have a similar problem ( more at the link )

1.boot
2.run level 3 or 5
3.no mouse
Actual results:
No mouse pointer movement
Expected results:

Additional info:
Rebooting to kernel-2.6.18-1.2869.fc6 resolves problem
