on one of the shows, mythbusters, i think, they did this very thing...
basically, they wore a pair of very tight rubber pants with a hose in the
back going to a bottle container on their backs...

the one i remember was of two folk on their rance who volunteered to do
this to test the myth about who farts more, men or women... the man and
woman went about their daily chores around their ranch... everything from
riding horses checking the fence line, branding and feedings... at the end
of the day, their bottle containers were recovered and the amount of gas
measured... the answer to the myth is they both, men and women, pass the
same amount of gas... men are just more "obvious" about it in
most cases ;)
