I doubt that it exists, but I would like to find a BBS host that
will let me design *all* the user screens. I have designed ANZI,
a 2129 byte (not k or meg) tool that replaces all the rarely used
foreign letters and junk with a set of diagonal and curved blocks
and lines. This allows really neat effects on ANSI menus, works
with 40 or so of the most popular termcomms, and gets rid of the
infamous 'jaggely' diagonals on ANSI menus and art.
I have seen some hosts that allow ANSI in the msg base, and for a
BBS user, this is a *real* treat, allowing more than just the ass
to risk to enhance email. If the host in question has that, they
will also be able to do a lot more than just smileys & )ø@ø(

Since this depends on the IBM hi-ascii, I don't see the inet msg
base with it.
Will this work with any offline mail readers?
The DCPC BBS that I am trying to put up is for support for my 12
volt desktop computer customers, and for this remote rural area.
Out here, 500 bucks is a big chunk of change. Lots of my rural
neighbors sacrifice income for ambience. To that end, anything
that I can do to enhance the utility of bleeding edge hardware is
going to be appreciated.
For rural users, offline is a must; in most cases, it cost gonzo
bring the *first* line in, and to tie that up all day with inet
surfing won't fly. So, I look for the fastest interface, and if
ANZI can doll it up so much the better.
Would it be possible to compile a newuser.qwk that contained, the
last 75 messages in selected echos so that they can get up to
speed without d/ling 500 megs without a twit filter?.. and have
the newuser.qwk ready for immediate d/l to save LD$?
