Hello All!
With this message a new DisAbility Electronic Communication Network is being
launched to be know as HandiNet. HandiNet will be an echomail distribution
system whose major purpose is to provide information, resources and contacts
with others in the DisAbility community who might not have access to the
larger FidoNet. One major goal of HandiNet is to provide distribution and
promote interest in the smaller, less trafficked conferences until such time
as the can qualify for Backbone status and become a part of the mainstream
information highway. HandiNet will combine a "core" group of conferences and
a "collateral" group of independent conferences.
HandiNet will be a nodelist free network using primarily FidoNet technology
and addresses. Other arrangements can be made if necessary. If you are a
sysop and you would like to arrange for a feed to this new Network, the
following boards have made themselves available as a mail source as of this
moment, others are expected to follow in the next few days:
Warren King - 1:275/429
Tom Freeman - 1:279/14
Stuart Miller - 1:153/316
Joel Davidov - 1:114/136
Andy Brown - 1:202/810
Tom McKeever - 1:374/22
HandiNet will be releasing a regular information packet via the Able Files
Distribution System (AFDN). This packet can be identified by the name
HANDINET.Zxx, with xx denoting the Julian date. The packet will include the
operating policy, the echo list and mail feed list. The first packet will be
released today.
Regards,
Warren
