: I've been waiting for someone to post about ConChord. I've gotta admit
: I'm DYING of couriosity. What did California think of the InterFilk guests?
The overall impression of Lloyd Landa and Karen Linsley was VERY
favorable. They did a truly wonderful concert set, and accidentally
invented a technical difficulty that I have NEVER seen before. Kristoph,
who was doing the sound and recording, was also totally baffled by it:
Karen's guitar created feedback, but only when she played the note of "B".
We THINK she was resonating off a nearby mirror, but that's purely a
guess.
: And I do have a question. What is "safe badge" "unsafe badge" ?? Does
: it have to with with waering other peoples name badges?
Well, yes...a certain Shannon McGuire who shall remain nameless (mainly
because no one knows who left the con wearing her badge) started a
seemingly harmless little game, which got COMPLETELY out of hand, ravaging
the countryside and laying waste to the peasantry. Since the badges had
pins this year (sorry, but we ran out of our traditional ski badges...),
and since people had no idea who had last stabbed themselves with their
badge pins...Anyway, you get the idea.
Bonus points to Vicky Shapero, who made a valiant effort to switch badges
with EVERYONE at the con for at least a few minutes (she failed, but it
was a great effort, and she confused many people), and to Alex Borders,
whose name badge made four
consecutive trips to the same restaurant without him (the waitress
noticed), and then ended up on a 6-foot tall teddy bear.
As con chairman, I can't fairly evaluate the convention, but I have to
brag about one thing: our end-of-con jam session ran longer than ANY I've
ever seen. It finished at a little before 3 am on Monday morning, a new
record for ConChord...
If any of you DO have comments about the con, please post them or direct
them to me as email. I really do want feedback. It's the easiest way to
make the next one better.
